  2. Connecting Apps

Connecting your domain to send emails

We use Mailchimp's Mandrill App to handle sending emails. Below are the instructions on how to verify the URL so that we can send emails on your behalf. Your IT team should be very familiar with this. Once this is done, we can switch everything over

Step 1: Enable DKIM

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an email authentication mechanism that allows Mandrill to send emails on your behalf while enabling receivers to verify your permission to do so.

Create Two CNAME Records in your DNS settings:

Record 1:

Name: mte1._domainkey.yourdomain.com

Value: dkim1.mandrillapp.com

Record 2:

Name: mte2._domainkey.yourdomain.com

Value: dkim2.mandrillapp.com

Step 2: Enable DMARC

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) is an additional authentication protocol that helps protect against fraud and increases email deliverability. Starting in 2024, Mandrill requires a minimum DMARC policy of v=DMARC1; p=none for any sending domain.

Create a TXT Record in your DNS settings:

Host: _dmarc.yourdomain.com

Value: v=DMARC1; p=none;

Click Test DNS Settings in Mandrill to ensure the changes are visible.

(Note: This step will be handled internally by the swivl team.)

📌 Note: Some domain hosts automatically append yourdomain.com to the DNS record’s host field. If you’re unsure, contact your domain provider for guidance. For more advanced DMARC configurations, visit dmarc.org.

Step 3: Verify Your Domain

To complete the setup, verify your domain by adding a TXT record or email verification.

TXT Record Verification:

Add a TXT record to your domain’s DNS records with the value we’ll provide. The record will look like this:

mandrill_verify.Gf7aAQis9N2Jos1cq1H4Gg

Email Verification (Alternative):

Provide an email address, and Mandrill will send a verification link.

By completing these steps, you’ll enable secure email delivery and improve the reliability of messages sent through your domain. If you encounter issues, reach out to your domain provider or consult the Mandrill documentation for further assistance.
