⚙️ Getting Started: Studio v3 Migration Guide

This guide is for customers transitioning from Studio v2 to Studio v3. It covers what has changed, how to log in, and how to get your team up and running quickly.

What's New in Studio v3

Studio v3 is a complete redesign of swivlStudio. Here is a quick overview of the key changes you will notice when you log in:

  • New URL: Studio v3 lives at v3.swivl.studio. Bookmark this now so you and your team can find it easily.
  • Redesigned navigation and layout: The menu structure has been reorganized for clarity. Most features are still there — they may just be in a slightly different place.
  • Updated member roles and permissions: How roles are created and assigned has changed in v3. If you manage team members, you will want to review your role setup after logging in.
  • Refreshed Conversations and Escalations experience: Live conversations and escalations now live in the Contact Center, with a new look and improved filtering options.

⚠️ Important: Studio v2 will no longer be accessible after the end of February 2026. Make sure you and your team are logging into v3.swivl.studio before then.


Logging In for the First Time

If your account has already been migrated by the swivl team, getting into v3 is straightforward!

  1. Go to v3.swivl.studio in your browser.
  2. Log in using your existing swivl credentials. Your username and password have not changed.
  3. You will land on the v3 dashboard. Take a moment to explore the new navigation sidebar.
  4. Bookmark v3.swivl.studio and update any saved shortcuts you previously had for v2.

💡 Tip: Most of your settings, bot configuration, and conversation history have been carried over as part of the migration. You should not need to start from scratch.

What Gets Migrated

When your account is moved to v3, the swivl team migrates the following:

  • Your bot configuration and Chatbot
  • Location and FMS integration settings
  • Sequences
  • Member accounts

A few things to double-check once you are in v3:

  • Member roles and permissions may need to be reviewed and adjusted (see the section below)
  • Any custom configurations or edge cases specific to your account should be tested with a live conversation after migration
  • FMS sync settings should be confirmed under your Location settings

⚠️ Important: If something looks missing or incorrect after migration, do not make changes right away. Reach out to our team first at support@tryswivl.com and we can help you verify what was carried over.

Updating Member Roles and Permissions

Member role management has been updated in v3. Here is what you need to know:

  1. Go to Settings > Members in Studio v3.
  2. Review the list of team members and confirm each person has the correct role assigned.
  3. If you need to create or edit a role, click into Roles from the Settings page.
  4. In Members, Assign permissions for each role based on what that team member needs access to.
  5. Save your changes and have affected team members log out and back in to refresh their access.

🏴 Admin only: Only Admins can create, edit, or delete member roles. If you do not see this option, check your role permissions with your account Admin.

Finding Your Way Around: v2 vs. v3

The navigation has been reorganized in v3. Here is a quick reference for where things have moved:

If you are looking for something specific and cannot find it, check the sidebar navigation first. Most features are still accessible — they may just have a new name or location!

Conversations and Escalations in v3

The live conversation and escalation experience has moved to the Contact Center in v3.

  • All live and past conversations are accessible from the Contact Center.
  • When a conversation is escalated, you will see it flagged in your queue.
  • Filters and sorting options have been improved, making it easier to find specific conversations or escalations quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still access Studio v2 after the migration?

No. Studio v2 will be fully retired at the end of February 2026 and will no longer be accessible. All activity must happen in Studio v3 going forward.

Do I need to set up my chatbot again from scratch?

No! Your bot configuration, Chatbot, and conversation history have been migrated to v3. We recommend reviewing your settings after logging in to confirm everything looks correct, but you should not need to rebuild anything.

My team members cannot log in to v3. What should I do?

Make sure they are going to v3.swivl.studio and not the old v2 URL. If they are still having trouble, check that their account is active under Settings > Members. If the issue continues, reach out to us at support@tryswivl.com.

My roles and permissions look different in v3. Is that expected?

Some role configurations may need to be reviewed and updated after migration. Head to Settings > Members to review your current role setup. If something looks wrong or missing, contact us and we can help sort it out.

Where can I find features that were in v2 but I cannot find in v3?

Check the navigation reference table above for common feature locations. If you are still stuck, search our knowledge base at learn.tryswivl.com or reach out to support and we will point you in the right direction.

What if my bot is behaving differently after migration?

Test a live conversation by chatting with the bot from your website after logging in. If something seems off, check your Chatbot Topics and FMS integration settings first. If the issue persists, contact our team and we can investigate.
